Salcombe Gold is a light straw gold ale with a long hoppy finish thanks to some of the best hops the USA’s finest exports: Amarillo, Chinook and Citra. A sweet citrus aroma followed by subtle flavours of melon, apricot and peach.

Bottle thanks to sisinlaw Sarah. Bright clear gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, light, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth pale malts, a little sweeter, a very mild grain, kinda works here. Soft pine hops. The trio of US hops bring a light bright citrus. Airy and semi dry finish. Not bad, light and drinkable and just enough hops to make it interesting.

Bottle on 9th November 2025, received as gift. Slightly hazy gold with shallowing off-white foam and scant lacing. Grassy hoppiness in aroma. Grassy and leafy hops in-mouth with rounded malts- a blend that goes on to dominate the finish. Full bodied with a zingy mouthfeel.

Excellent golden ale - citrus, grapefruit, more hoppy and bitter that similar Devon ales - good range in Teignmouth Morrisons

Cask at George IV, London. This was a flatter and not so fruity / fresh golden. Quite wet malts. Light gold. Reasonable bitterness. Dry.

(Cask at Harp, Charing Cross, London, 27 May 2022) Golden colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, grapefruit, lemon peel and biscuits. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, lemon, resin, peaches and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and refreshing. Quite nice.

Cask @ Globe Inn, Frogmore. Lighter clear golden coloured and light hoppy too. It’s a tad watery in texture but is fine, and has some malts in its nose.
