Hertog Jan Dubbel is a traditional top-fermenting dark beer. The designation 'dubbel' refers to the double amount of ingredients used. Hertog Jan Dubbel is tasted by all senses, allowing for an optimal enjoyment of color, smell and taste. Firstly you poor it into a glass and marvel at the foam and the pretty reddish brown color. Then you smell the full, soft aroma. You take a sip and taste the rich, malty character. And finally, you enjoy the somewhat sweet aftertaste. This traditional beer has an alcohol percentage of 7.3%. The secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a fresher and richer taste and aroma.

Comes in a lovely ceramic bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a slight beige head. Aroma of malts, plum, caramel, raisin, brown sugar. Unfortunately, that sounds more complex than it is. Taste is a bit sugary. This is a nice dubbel that I wouldn’t mind drinking again some day. However, it is hardly anything special.

Ceramic bottle with cork 0,5ltr: Clear brown colored brew with an sweet bitter taste with some dryness, hints of caramel, spices and some roasted malts. This beer was one of the first speciality beers when starting with mine beerhobby, at last rated it. Glad there are much better Dubbels in the world.

Schönes Steinfläschchen, optisch schwarz, in der Nase aromatisch, Malz, Rosinen. Im Trunk ausgesprochen würzig, malzig, überreife Trauben, sehr lecker und gefährlich gut trinkbar.

This is a really good beer. Clean brown ale. Just robust, slightly sweet, but malt dominated greatness. Ah ams

50cl bottle. Pours dark brown, with fine light brown foam. Aroma is intense of toasted barley, caramel, nutty, dry fruits and figs. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium-high sweet. Final is first pleasant, then a little weird and alcoholic.

Stone-like-bottle. Dark brownish color and a off-white head. Sweet nose, brown sugar, syrupie. Taste follows the nose, dried fruits, rather short finish. Light to medium body.
