Tried in three different Wetherspoon pubs during their Beer Fest. Two in Bournemouth, the other in Bewdley. All hand pulled pints during December 2008. Lemon-Grass in a beer? Well it came across fine, delicate and refreshing giving the beer an Oriental feel. Slightly cloudy, an orange/dull amber colour with an off-white/white head which soon turned into a wisp covering and collar in each pub. The aroma and taste was interesting but not interesting enough to make me yearn for the beer to become a regular brew from one of my favorite breweries. A bit thin, but this was supposed to be a light tasting beer and not a heavy brew. A good fest beer, but I prefer Batemans staple beers.

5th November 2008. Clear light amber beer. Low carbonation. Very smooth beer. Almost creamy malt offset by citrus (presumably the lemon grass) which doesn’t dominate. Semi bitter dry finish but it’s spcie bitter more than a hop bitter. Refreshing but could do with more sparkle and bite.

Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - Shakespear’s Head, London
Amber color; big head. It’s a quite simple Bitter, very smooth, with good caramel flavor, medium sweetness, and a light grassy touch; the aroma has a very light mint shade. Weak final; correct bitterness. Pleasant but simple.

Half pint, hand pulled festival ale at the Wetherspoons Counting House in Dundee. Plain amber body with a few patches on the surface. Grassy smell. Taste of spicy resinous hops, leading to a balanced bitter ending [07.11.2008].

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms JDW, Bristol. This was dominated by diacetyl with some subdued spicing underneath and the yeast noted below. Another poor beer in the recent JDW festival.
