This beer is a light bodied, easy drinking ale. We use real raspberries late in fermentation, giving this beer a mild fruit flavor while keeping a very balanced malt profile. This may not be what some would expect from a “fruit” beer, but our brewers make good beer; not fruity, carbonated malt beverages. Our motto is, “beer first, fruit second”.

Barley and cranberry nose. Cloudy amber, thin head. Medium body. Artificial raspberry, cardboard flavor. Every good brewey is allowed one lousy fruit beer. This is Dark Horse’s.

On tap @ Mudville 9. A really cloudy glowing muddy orange one with a small quickly gone, or at least islandy off-white top. Smells of artificial raspberries, rubber, a bit or rhubarb and some farmyard grassy hints. Well... It tastes like raspberries at least. Slightly sour ones with herbal starches and rice water. Not all that to be honest. Soft oily to watery mouthfeel and a soft to average mouthfeel. More artificial slightly plastic flavors in the finish. Well.. That's not mine idea of a raspberry beverage. 23.06.2013

Bubbly, cloudy, yellow-gold with a tall, white head. Scent is raspberry, wheat. Taste is wine-cooler raspberry... The claim is that this is more "beery" than fruity...mmm...not really. Pretty typical for flavouring...weak, bland.

Bottle from Vinspecialisten, Aalborg. Hazy orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and raspberry. Flavor is medium sweet. Light dry finish. 060113

Tap at the Cask, Pimlico - 28/09/12. Hazy orange with a thin off-white head. Raspeberries, summer berry fruits, wheat, sugars and fruit jammyness on the nose. Taste largely follows with softer sweeter raspberry in the flavour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a sweetish finish. I’d imagine this would be a good refreshing beer on a hot day.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a nice 1-2 finger frothy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Good bits of foamy lacing cling down the glass. Aromas of tart raspberry, bread, herbal, floral, and light caramel, Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and decent strength. Taste of biscuit, toast, light tart raspberry, herbal, floral, and light earth. Lingering notes of toast, biscuit, raspberry, herbal, floral, and earth on the finish for a bit. Not nearly as much raspberry in the taste as I expected from the aromas. Mostly biscuit and herbal hops. Minimal cloying flavors on the finish and fairly dry. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly syrupy and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with pretty much no warming on the finish. Overall, not a bad beer; but it was seriously lacking in the fruit department in the taste. Was very easy to drink.

Interesting beer. I totally understand the "beer first, fruit second" after drinking this. This beer could absolutely stand alone without the raspberry. It reminds me of a decent wheat beer that someone spilled a little raspberry concentrate in. Give it a shot if you get a chance, I enjoyed all 5oz of my trial.

Bottle @ Brad’s house Minneapolis. Pours a hazy, brownish orange appearance with an off white head. A bit spicy, raspberry fruity, bready aroma. Tangy, dull raspberry, a touch tart, somewhat watery, bland flavor.

On tap @ Beer Temple. Dark blond color, hazy. Firm off white head. Aroma’s: raspberry, forest fruit, slightly sweet, somewhat grainy, slight hop aroma. Flavor is fruity, lightly acidic, ever so slightly bitter. Light body. Finishes with some grain and a light bitterness. OK, I suppose could be nice in Summer.
