This beer is a light bodied, easy drinking ale. We use real raspberries late in fermentation, giving this beer a mild fruit flavor while keeping a very balanced malt profile. This may not be what some would expect from a “fruit” beer, but our brewers make good beer; not fruity, carbonated malt beverages. Our motto is, “beer first, fruit second”.

Draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels. Couleur orangée brumeuse, col blanc. Arôme de framboise donnant un bouquet léger aigre fruité voire ce côté yaourt fruité. Le tout reste en retrait mais suffisamment pour être bien en harmonie avec le malt. Une touche de framboise en plus aurait été un plus. En bouche, la framboise est bien présente sans être trop en avant et donne ce profile râpeux typique de framboise, le tout sur une touche fruitée-aigre. Cela est accompagné d’un houblon léger en amertume tout comme un malt pale/cara. Légère, mais la framboise reste trop discrète, mais apparemment cela reste dans l’idée de base des brasseurs, bière en premier, les fruits en second.

(Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 17 Feb 2012) Pale amber colour, slightly hazy, with brief off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of bread, vanilla, raspberries and hints of wheat. Fruity taste with white bread, vanilla and mild flavours of raspberries. Rather light body, and drier than expected. Low bitterness. Nice and tasty, but hardly outstanding. White bread with raspberry jam.

Pours a slightly cloudy deep golden color with a smallish white head that shows marginal retention. Smells of raspberries and faint bready malt. Sweet malty aroma with a distinct tartness that I assume is from the berries. Taste is malty sweet with tart raspberries and a hint of Belgian yeasty esters. Medium body and carbonation level with a slick almost sweet mouthfeel. This one was kind of meh. I wouldn’t be surprised if this bottle had been sitting for a while before I purchased it.

Enjoyed on tap at the Boiler Room in Chicago, IL during a steamy Friday night on the Labor Day weekend, while the bar was out of power due to a brown out. Unfortunately I didn’t take tasting notes during this, but it’s obvious that this was a raspberry ale but really wasn’t tart, pretty smooth and enjoyable, nice golden cloudy hue, in the nose not too much in terms of raspberries, maybe just a little more malty in the nose. At any rate this was good.

Bottle. It’s an unclear, amber-orange beer, with a dense, off-white head leaving lacings. Berry notes, sour hints and a caramel maltyness on the nose. Raspberry sourness on the palate, and raspberry flavor all the way, not much room for anything else here. Quite pleasant though. Medium body, smooth. A decent beer, but to me it’s nothing more than interesting, it’s not the kind of beer I’d like to have again. 110311

Pours blood orange into a Sam glass. Off-white head with little retention crackles and recedes to hug rim. Raspberry aromas. Thin upfront with sweet marshmallow turning crisp and dry in the lasting raspberry finish.

bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard clear caramelly brown, quite large smooth offwhite head berryish fruity aroma of raspberries and red berries in general. some ordinary beer notes too. flavor is raspberries, raspberry jam, malts, bitter fruit peely hops. Aftertaste is a little more malty and caramelly. Beer and fruits doesn’t really work that well together in this one, leaving sort of a little bit of a cloying experience.

On tap. Pours an orange amber with a heavy haze and a small white head. At first I don’t even smell the raspberry, just biscuity wheat with a little bit of a hop note, but the raspberry comes through on subsequent sips. Flavor also leads witht he wheat impression, a bit of floral hops, then raspberry coes in again. There’s also a light spice to it. A nice, subtle fruit beer, really.

Bottled at RBESG 2010 Grand Tasting. An unclear amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has powerful notes of raspberries. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of raspberries, combined with light notes of malt, leading to a lightly dry finish.
