500ml bottle, Batch #067, bought at Vinmonopolet City Nord. Huge beige head, rustic shade to an opaque dark coloured body. Fair lacing. Inviting chocolate and star anise to the nose, a touch of leafy hops. Malt-driven flavours of honey, anise and chocolate added by a dry bitter touch towards a lingering ending. Well bodied and well crafted. Like it. (Bodø Panorama 22.03.2018).

Dark amber with off white head - Aroma of dark malts with some fruity tones - Nice malt body with some fruity tones that gives some bitterness - The dark malt and fruity bitterness goes into the finish - This was nice

500 ml bottle. Clear, dark brown body with a tan head that fades quickly. Aroma is totally dominated by star anise, with moderate dark malt and toast in the background. Flavor is sweet, medium dark malt with lots of star anise and hint of toast and caramel. Rather thin body and aftertaste of sweet caramel malt and star anise. This is just too much star anise for my liking. Some spices might be OK, but in this case the porter flavor itself is almost in the background. It has to be a rather robust porter to handle this much spices, and this one is too much of a light weight porter IMO. Ends up rather one dimensional.

15.04.2016, 0,5l bottle @ home:
Small slightly bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet spiced, anise, grass, dark malts, roasted grain, sour coffee, weeds, licorice. Taste is dry mineraly, weeds, anise, dark malts, minerals, roasted grain, grass, burnt coffee, licorice, hay, paper. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh and watery mouthfeel. Kind of boring.
