Bottle from kris wines. Shared at Leighton’s party. Aroma is really dirty earthy coffee, toasted coconut, berry, raspberry fruit, dark choccy gateaux. Flavour is choccy powder. Dark roast, milky choc. Berry. Dark black forest gateaux. Dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a thin tan head. Palate is full and smooth, creamy and rounded. Lingering earthy coffee. Roast good stuff.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich, oily, dark chocolate, toasty action, varnish, spice, cake and some unami. The taste is smooth, bitter, earthy roast, cocoa, toffee, light alcohol, coffee, light spice, mild acidity and some alcohol warmth with a dry, toasty finish. Medium - full body, sticky mouth-feel and fine carbonation.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Fergus. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has some milk chocolate, mellow roast, old coffee. Medium sweet flavor with earthy bitterness, more chocomate, dried berries, burnt wood. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sugary finish, more burnt wood, milk chocolate. Not bad.

Thanks to ElManana + 1! 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG IV. Blackish, little head. Nose is heavy on umami, lots of soy sauce, herbal. Taste is bitter soy sauce, roast, herbal, coffee, malty. Soy sauce body. Okay but soy sauce, herbal + roast aren’t my preferred flavours for a RIS,.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2014) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and a touch of soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, cacao, dark bread, liquorice and a fairly dry finish with a generous coffee bitterness. Almost full body, quite dry. Tasty and well made imperial stout. Very nice.
