The dark site of pleasure. Fine bitter, fresh and rich in taste. Thanks to dark superior malt that provides the amber colour and the elegant smoothness.

Feb. '17. A 0.33 l fliptop bottle that poured a clear reddish brown body with medium sized head. Unimpressive aroma of hay, grain and some toffee/caramel within it all. Touch of licorice. Sweetish flavor, caramel driven but quite grainy as well, with distinct bread-toasty note. Thin to medium body with pretty short finish. Quite atypical dunkel, not that bad as it might sound but clearly nothing special either.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from local 'trinkgut', best before November 2018. Clear, dark brownish amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Slightly sweetish, a bit malty aroma of caramel and toasted nuts. Moderately sweet, minimally bitter, slightly malty taste of toasted nuts, some caramel and hints of chocolate, followed by a short, moderately bitter, minimally roasty and a bit grassy-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid, overly aromatic.

330 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 6/10/2018. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with amazing retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Great spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with light notes of nuttiness, roast, pepper, and herbal/grassy/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with light notes of nuttiness, roast, pepper, and herbal/grassy/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, roast, pepper, and herbal/grassy/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a delicious Munich dunkel lager. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Very clean and nicely rich Munich malt complexity, with solid noble hop presence and balance. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
