440ml can - Pours black with an average sized frothy tan head. The aroma is coffee grounds, roasted malts and burnt grain. A sweetish taste, roasted malts, coffee, and roasted nuts with hints of vanilla and cocoa powder. A warming, roasted and ashy bitterness in the finish.

Tap at Keg, Bourne End. Poured almost black in colour with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, big coffee, light alcohol. The flavour is liqourice bitter, light sweet, with a rich, slightly oily, roasty, dry coffee, liqourice bitter, warm alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Can big thanks to my bro. It pours opaque black with a decent light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted, dark roasted coffee, espresso, charred, tobacco, nutty, light vanilla, umami and a touch of liquorice. The taste is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, fulsome, dark roasted malt, charred, toasted nut, big hit of coffee, light vanilla, tobacco, peppery spice, praline, gianduja, touch of alcohol (but not much), forrero rocher, espresso chocolate torte, thick gateaux vibes and earth with a drying finish.. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Lovely stuff. So nice to have an imperial stout not chock full of sweet fakeness. Flavourful and moreish.

440ml can. Pitch black, tan head. Aroma of earthy coffee, dark chocolate. Taste of huge roasty coffee, earthy, dark chocolate, tobacco, think the vanilla has got a bit lost under all those strong flavours, lingering bitterness, booze. Full bodied. Excellent coffee stout.

On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours pretty much jet black with minimal beige head. Aroma is strong and boozy with plenty of chocolate and coffee, plus some toffee later on. In the mouth, alcoholic strength is the first thing which commands attention. This is followed by bitter coffee grounds, cocoa nibs, dark chocolate and a hint of liquorice. Finish is warming ! A nice fireside sipper, but strength overshadows the stout characteristics.

Can. Not sure where from. Pours just about black. Leggy and lasting, thin, dense, tan head. Nose has rich roast coffee. Cake fruits. Some tar. Bitter chocolate. Cocoa nibs. Taste has a light sweetness, but is mostly dry, vinous, roast malt bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Bit of vinous twang. Fine carbonation. Lengthy bitterness to finish.
