At the heart of many a countryside village can be found an inn. A place where locals go to relax after a long day. At one such inn, rumour has it that inquisitive ferrets would sneak to the back door to cheekily sample the local brew. A sweet nutty palate, hoppy aroma and a hint of Seville oranges, give this tawny amber ale its distinctive personality. Recommended with smooth and creamy West Country Cheddar or indulgent pork pies and mustard.

I’ve been trying to hunt this down and finally found it at the Iing’s Head in Poole. I can confirm that this is a solid ale if your ferret needs a drink.

500ml bottle from Waitrose, in Bath, England. Pours a crystal clear orange-bronze color with a thick beige head and excellent retention. Great lacing too. Light hoppy aroma. Mellow caramel malt flavor with very faint hoppy notes in the finish. Sweeter and more flavorful than any bitters I had on tap in England. A nice, mellow, flavorful, easy drinking beer. Medium body. Low carbonation. Low bitterness.

Lovely clear amber with a tan head. Toasted malt, bright fruity notes, a bit of spicy cracked pepper. Well-balanced. Medium bodied. Finish has more of the same. Drinks real nicely.
Light, sweet and malty, softly bitter, not bad.
