Cask. Clear amber golden with a creamy beige head leaving laces - thick curtains of laces. Lightly nutty nose. Light body, flat, nutty accents, vaguely fusty with a dry finish. 180110

[Cask at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Castleton, Derbyshire] Pours deep amber-brown with a medium creamy head. Tastes of malt, caramel and treacle; it’s very rich, very smooth, sweet and easy to drink. A great session beer.

Half, hand pulled at Whey Pat Tavern in St Andrews. Thin, white head, partly blanketing the glass. Dark amber body. Smell of caramel malts. Initial taste of sweet malt with a caramel edge. Discreet and dry bittersweet ending. Medium to thin bodied [27.10.2008].

Cask @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, coffee notes, slat crackers. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (080808)

Cask at the Waggon & Horses (JDW), Alfreton. Hazy gold with a thin cream head; leafy hop aroma; fruity and caramel flavours with a balanced bitterness. An acceptable ordinary bitter.

Cask@GBBF2008. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is mild coffee, roast and some wood. Flavour is wood, sour coffee with some mild hints of wood. Nice fruity and wooden bitterness in aftertaste.

Cloudy dark amber with medium off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and fruits. Sweet floral with roasted malt, caramel and hints of chocolate. Ends sweet.

On gravity at the Bristol Beer Festival 14/3/08. Cooper with a slight white head. Aroma of biscuit malt with a hint of red fruit. Flavour was pleasantly bitter, with a hint of chocolate malt and a decent bitter finish. A very good session bitter.
