Deep amber in colour, Old Winter Ale is a strong beer with a malt, cookie and liquorice aroma. The prominent Crystal malts add sweet, nutty flavours, balanced by floral notes from Target, Challenger and Northdown hops.

Bottled. Dark copper coloured mediumsized brown thick creamy head. Strong malty nose with hints of caramel and cookies as well as a bit of roast. Strong roasted malt in flavour along with some hops in finish. Caramellish hints also there as well as weak plummyness. Quite pleasant, but the roastflavour is a bit too aggressive.

50cl bottle from Pitfield Beer shop. gorgeous russet colour. Lasting tight beige head. Lovely aroma of rich malts with berry fruit, toffee adn some choc and also vigorous hop. Full in mouth and then sensuous warming malt, more choc and toffee and then assertive hops to balance. Another wonderful strong Fullers beer.

Bottled. Dark almost ruby coloured beer with a strong head. The aroma is hopped and slightly caramel and the flavour is very strongly hopped with a long dry caramel finish. Overall a well structured beer.

Dark ruby-copper brown. Good medium foamy head. Malty, menthol aroma. Hoppy, crisp, chalky and medium-bodied. Taste has also some licorice - quite similar to Fullerโs 1845. Excellent session beer and another sample of Fullerโs all-line high quality. (6/4/7/4/14 3.5)

Ruby brown, good creamy head. Strong caramelly aroma with hints of licorice. Good hoppy bitter and nutty flavor with hints of caramel. Long bitter aftertaste. (6/4/7/3/14 3.4)
