Tap at Lager Lager. Cloudy neon red, low pink nose. Cherry, raspberry aroma with a hint banana. Dry, not overly tart, mellow on the palate, medium light body. Light twigs, berry, a decent sized barn, dry fruity finish. Very pleasant.

Thin off white head soon left a skim on a red grapefruit coloured body. Zesty aroma of raspberry & cherry. Medium to thin bodied, tingly on the palate with a clean dry finish. Sour tastes of raspberry, oak & cherry with a very fruity finish

One of the many fruit variations on Alvinne’s Wild West theme, bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Loose, irregular, large-bubbled, pale greyish white, opening head over a pure, even lightly copper-tinged amber coloured beer, clear initially but misty with sediment – in any case not looking bright cherry red like I was expecting. Aroma of red raspberry and raspberry pits, sesame seed, sour cherry but clearly less expressively so than the raspberry, fried tomato peel, wet wood, raw rhubarb, raspberry vinegar, sourdough, sweat, yoghurt, paprika soup, dry white wine. Lively fruity onset, lots of raspberry flavour with that typical tomato-ish edge to it, less sour cherry even though it too is noticeable and adds fruit acidity to the already sour base of the beer; redcurrant-, lemon- and rhubarb-like aspects as well. Medium carbo, soft mouthfeel, bread crust-like malt core underneath drying lactic and fruit sourness; the nutty, sesame seed-like factor of the raspberry seeds and cherry pits is quite ‘bright’ in the end, lingering in a bready, sour, lactic and fruit acidic finish with woody tannic notes. Another great Alvinne sour though to me not the best in this series, promising more sour cherry than it delivers, so that the colour, aroma and taste are much more raspberry-oriented – should have been called Framboos – Kriek instead of the other way around…

Bottle. Pours clear red. Aroma is both a kriek and a framboos at the same time, softly funky. Body is medium, sour and tart. Fruity and softly carbonated, like fizzy candy. Dry and fruity palate, astringent and very sour. Good, but not totally harmonic.
