The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Cloudy orange golden pour with a fine big white head. Citrus bomb in the aroma. Also tropical and herbal. Full to medium body and a smooth nice carbonation. Tad sweet and a rich bitterness. Balanced tropical fruity, grapefruit hoppy, pine and herbal flavor. Lovelt tasty and powerful dipa. Well masked alcohol.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy deep orange golden, mid sized head. Caramelly nose with light notes of pears. Sweet and fruity with medium-full body and rounded, somewhat syrupy mouthfeel. Mostly caramel and syrup. Some ink and saccharine in the finish. Hops are hopelessly lost in a sea of sticky caramel.

Bottled:
Packed full of hops; really bitter. Good, but would probably benefit from having a bit more malt in the base.

Another killer IPA from Garage Project. This stuff really needs to make it over to the US. Perfect aroma and taste, big but tempered hop aroma and flavor, cloudy orange gold body with creamy head. Essence of pine resin lingers with a hint of grapefruit. Top notch.

Bottle. Hazy orange liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, grain, bread and citrus. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of pineapple, elderflower, mango, bread, tangerine and lemon peel. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty nice, really hoppy.

Citrus and floral notes bombard the senses only to have herbal hops sucker punch you in the back. Decent amount of caramel sweetness to boost the Abv. Has that dry hopped profile, too. Good.

Bottle. An unclear, dark golden beer topped by a dense, two-finger thick off-white head. Nice lacings. The aroma is herbal and christmas tree-ish, with orange peel and some pale malts tending towards toffee. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, with herbs, spruce notes, orange peel and some maltyness. Full body and a decent carbonation level. Lasting finish with too much herbal flavors. Except for that herbs, it’s sure a fine one. 140613

Flaske 650ml delt med Rune og naboen på Nerstranda 4 Nov 11. Aprikosfarget. Lavt skum. Aroma av syrlig frukt. Smaken er mandler. Blir litt tørr etter hvert.

650ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Vika. Shared with Finn and his neighbours next door. Pours a fair, off-white head to a cloudy apricot coloured body. Peach and grapefruit on the nose, hints of dough. Taste of dried and fresh citrus fruits leading to a mid-sweet fruity end. Soft in the mouth. Hidden alcohol. Easy to drink. Pretty nice (Tromsø 04.11.2014).
