Oldham Beer Festival 2024. Hazy dark ale. Quite malty but a dark brew in character with hints of roasted.

Thanks Simon. Deep malty beginning. Caramel, rich, burned sticky. Great creamy sticky with a burned dry caramelly finish. Viscous stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Pheasant on 20 Jun 2023 at 23:22 - Score: 7. Original review text: Thanks Simon T. Deep malty beginning. Caramel, rich, burned sticky. Creamy light brown head on a coca cola coloured still body. Roasted malt g toffee aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a clean back. Toffee, parkin, liquorice, bonfire toffee & malt tastes with a lightly hopped fruity finish. Good one.

Pours a clear chestnut brown colour with a small and diminishing beige head. The aroma is malty and fruity, dark malts and dark fruit with a hint of caramel. A moderately sweet malty and fruity taste, dark malts, prunes and nutty flavours with a leafy hop bitterness. Nice.

Half-pint, cask ale after breakfast at West Gate Inn (JDW). A beige head resting over a deep copper coloured body. Dark malt-fruity smell, hints of caramel, promising. Blende flavour character of dark fruits, biscuit, and brown malts. Rounded stewed fruity tail. Pleasing, a bit thin bodied though. (Canterbury 11.02.2023)

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A deep chestnut coloured pour with a loose beige head; sweet nutty aroma and taste; and an earthy finish with a light bitterness. A satisfying Old Ale.

Mørk rubinrød. Lavt tett skum med litt farge. Litt lacing. Aroma av malt & sjokolade. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken kjeks, nøtter & syltetøy. Tørr, behagelig bitter avslutning.

Cask-conditioned at the Robert Fitzharding (JDW), Bedminster 27/1/2022. Deep brown in colour, with a slight, beige, head. Aroma of brown sugar and ripe malts. Flavour had some berry character and more sweetness maltiness, before a gentle finish. Good.

Well, the first thing to say is this beer is NOT black – or anywhere near it. Pours a dark ruby red with a small cream head and good lacing. Cask in Babington Arms, Derby. Has a simple aroma of roasted malts. Mouthfeel is mainly of sweet malts with a slightly watery texture. There are dark fruits too with hints of liquorice and a slightlly smoky edge. Finish is both bitter and malty. Reasonable, but not very distinctive.
