Frydenlund Pilsner is a Norwegian lager beer with a beautiful golden colour and well-balanced malt and hops aroma with a light fruitiness. The taste is medium-bodied and pure, with a nicely balanced malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness.

Coarse lace above somewhat creamy, white, medium-sized head. Clear copper body. Aroma is standard Ringnes caramel malts with some butter. Taste is buttery caramel with skunked hops (from a can!). Some bitterness, but no proper aftertaste. This is very, very poor. Has to be one of the worst pilseners I’ve had. Ringnes must really hate the memory of Frydenlund.

(Bottle 33 cl) Neatly pilsener golden with a handsome, creamy head. Very light and watery body. Malty with notes of cardboard and nothing much more. Vague underlying sweetness. 271105

Bottled. Aroma is sweet, malty with notes ofcooked cabbage. Pale golden beer with small white head. Small taste of malt and hop, but well hidden and quickly disappearing. Except for some bitterness that stays a while. Weak, though. (051112)

A yellow beer with a huge white head. The aroma is hoppy and a little sour. The flavor is hoppy and malty.

Pale golden colour. Lacks the crispness the better Norwegian pilsners had, and has instead the Ringnes sweetness applied to it. This combined with a light body and low bitterness results in a beer which is definitely not too my liking.

Sigmund's description is pretty much right on- light, moderately hopped continental (for those of you familiar with this term) pilsner.

This was my favourite Oslo pilsener many years ago when Frydenlund Bryggeri existed in its own right, but Ringnes' revival of the brew is not bad - it just isn't quite as fresh and spritzy as i remember it. (But then my memory isn't what it used to be, either...) Well, this is a light golden, medium hopped pils, perhaps more rounded than a pils ought to be, well worth sampling but nothing that will linger in your dreams.
