A strong lager that offers a perfect balance between the malts, the hops and the high alcohol content. Our Brewmasters recover one of the old Hijos de Rivera historic recipes, the “Especial Extra” (aka La Colorada). Brewed in the only Company’s brewery placed in A Coruña using our traditional methods: best ingredients, long maturing time, passion for the excellence. An intense amber beer. In aroma the balance shifts slightly in favor of the malts, with pleasant sweet notes, caramel-like. The bitterness balances the intense alcohol content and the light piquant aftertaste.

11.2 oz. bottle with a pull-tab cap. Pours a clear bronze color with a khaki head and great retention. Good lacing. Caramel aroma. Less caramel flavor than the nose, with a strong/heavy finish. Alcohol warming but not harsh. It's okay. No bad flavors but nothing real interesting either. 8.0% ABV is fairly hidden.

Strong malty aroma. Clear dark hay color, small but long head. Lightly sweet, medium bitter, like common lager. Light to medium body, short finish.

Bottle at Meteoro. Didn’t bother to ask for a glass... Lots of sweet malts, light roast, rye, old dusty apricot, light alcohol, lots of fresh baked bread, sugar. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied. Kind of drinkeable actually if you like to get drunk fast.

33cl bottle at Clic Bar, Oviedo, Spain. Pours amber with medium white head, medium grain foam. Aroma is genetically malty and caramel. Body is average, with good carbonation and some alcoholic feeling. Taste is predominantly sweet, but delicate. Some detectable bitterness which balances out well the sweetness. Finish is alcoholic but just a little longer than usual.
