A strong lager that offers a perfect balance between the malts, the hops and the high alcohol content. Our Brewmasters recover one of the old Hijos de Rivera historic recipes, the “Especial Extra” (aka La Colorada). Brewed in the only Company’s brewery placed in A Coruña using our traditional methods: best ingredients, long maturing time, passion for the excellence. An intense amber beer. In aroma the balance shifts slightly in favor of the malts, with pleasant sweet notes, caramel-like. The bitterness balances the intense alcohol content and the light piquant aftertaste.

Big offwhite head. Clear deep amber body with carbonation. Earthy fruity musty aroma with spicy caramelly lightly wooden notes. Dry-sweet strawy caramelly taste with syrupy cinnamon notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel with some heat. Dryish earthy caramelly aftertaste with cinnamon and spice notes. It’s not bad. In fact, it’s much too drinkable. Flip-top 330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Clear, amber-gold body. Off-white head with fair amount of lacework. Caramel malts to the nose with some strange smell of meat and underlying alcohol. Fruit-caramel flavours. Hints of meat. Mid-sweet fruity ending. Not fully integrated alcohol. Soft in the mouth. Alright, quite one dimensional though (at home in Tromsø, 20.07.2013).

Bottled 330ml. -Golden coloured, small white head, mild malty nose. Sweet toasted malt, warming alcohol and some metallic spicy notes with sweet alcoholic finish. Also mild notes of fruits. One-dimensional.
