A sustaining beer brewed to comfort in the gusty Ides of March & welcome in a wealth of warmer weather. Fermented using both ale & lager yeast, mellowed in an oak foeder & refermented in the can. After a short foeder rest, Bière de Mars is then transferred to used bourbon barrels, developing rich notes of caramel, leather, bourbon, & tart oak. “Beware the Ides of March” - Some guy to some other guy, a long time ago.

Picked up at this awesome bottle shop in Houston, hopefully the search will auto fill. Born on: 1/10/24. Had the reserve before but never the OG.
Pint glass at home after a few months sleeping in the fridge.
Somewhat opaque, maybe just a little protein haze. Pours like iced yea, lingering foam. Definitely hazy on the second pour.
Nose is all oak, macerated cherries, apricots, lemon, sticky dried up malt.
Tart soaked cherries & really astringent wood pith. Black tea tannins, a little lemon, bourbon, strangely savory dark malt, just a twinge of pleasant oxidation.
Sizzling, nicely tart but otherwise dry, lingering dry mouth.
Tasty.

batch 256, dark brownish pour with a thick creamy head. Nice caramel/malty aroma flavour is nice, and solid, very well balnced, lots of caramel, and toffee notes with a touch of yeast. A good yeasty funk finish, interesting take ont he style.

Deep dark copper, amber and beautiful bronzed coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head that fades very quickly and leaves nothing up top. Aroma of soured, tart and funky bretty notes with some additional raspberries and cherries in the mix with a light touch of yeast and oak towards the end of the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong funky and very bretty flavours dominate with a lot of tart crispness and a touch of grainy, light maltiness here with some yeast, oak and white wine grapes noticeable as well, all ending quite easily with some raspberries and cherries towards the finish. Aftertaste is pretty funky from the brett and yeast here, as you'd expect with a light dose of flowers and dryness at the end that goes well with the tart and fruity notes, which are strong here. Overall, nice to try of course, but not one of their better beers of course, but at least should appeal to the masses. I sampled this fourteen ounce pour on draught at Jolly Pumpkin in Detroit (DTW Airport) on 21-April-2023 for US$12,00 sampled while leaving this fine city.

Bottled. Reddish amber colour with a mediumsized creamy longlasting slightly off-white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is sour wood, some slight floral and berryish notes along with some bready malts. Flavour is floral, grassy and mildly bready malty with quite a big sourish wooden punch to it.

473 ml can. Clear deep red with a fat coat of cream head that retreats to the rim after a time. Aroma of strong bread, indistinct berries, mellow red wine vinegar, decaying wood, twigs. Taste follows this - moderately sour with a touch of chocolate in foil (reminds me a bit of Struise Aardmonnik due to that). Lots of oak and twigs at the end. Roomy palate - I like that it's not trying to impose itself too much.

Bottle thanks to Gibson. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head. The aroma is earth, oak and dark fruit. Slick body, raisin, oak, brett, light tartness, very good.

Bottle, 0.75l, 3 years old. Aroma is musty, vinous, ripe fruity and woody. Pours cloudy light brown color with medium sized soapy off-white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet and sour grainy, following is vinous, funky, woody and herbal, while finish is medium bitter. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. March madness...

Bottle syas oak aged, but this must be the one. Tasted @ UDRM, Oirschot. Oak, leather and lemon in the intense aroma. Vinous oaky flavor with caramel and even a bit of chocolate. The oak comes back stronger in the aftertaste. Great beer.
