The starting beer is a classic Porter added with Tuscan Kentucky tobacco leaves, the same ones that are used to make traditional Italian cigars. The result is a very dark beer with very rich aromas of tobacco, spices and walnut husks. The mouthfeel and palate deliver roasty notes, with a slight acidity and the tobacco offers a peppery and almost hot feeling.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate, tobaco, ash, malt and licorice. Taste of ashy malt, chocolate, licorice, subtle smoke and tobaco. Solid, bit too much licorice flavor perhaps. Would have liked more smoke.

33 cl bottle at Eataly, Illum, Copenhagen. Near black with a dense, lightly tanned head. Fruity aroma with caramel, chocolate, coffee, licorice, tobacco and roasted malts. Taste is light sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Finishes drying with fruity-roasted notes. Lovely Porter.

Bottle from the Offie, Leicester. Very dark brown, almost opaque with a tiny ring of tan head. Blackberries, molasses, wood smoke, a touch of tobacco on the nose. Sweetish taste, heavy on berry notes, with a savoury smoky note just at the finish. Overripe blueberries and more tobacco in the aftertaste. Oily body. A pleasingly complex porter.

Bottle. Pours hazy very dark brown with rocky but stable light tan head. Clear aroma of coffee, roast and malt, with touches of yeast and hints of sourish tobacco leaves. Bitter, roasty and coffeelike flavour with malty and estery notes and some sourish tobaccolike hints. Dry and leafy aftertaste. Decent, especially for smokers.

Bottle at 6.5%ABV. Opaque deep brown pour with moderate airy beige head. Aroma: roasted malts, smoke, a hint of metal. Light body. Mediun dry taste. Rich malty. Light smokiness. Coffee. Light bitterness. All of the 4 samples of del Borgo I tried before were better.

Handpump at Osteria del Borgo (Rome-Italy). Black color, tick beige head with retention. Nose: wow! Peat, leather, old leather belt, roast. Mouth: rich and easy, charming roast, end is watery, mild bitterness.
