Praline Chocolate Porter. Dark forces are at work in this devilishly good Praline Porter. Chocolate and fruit come a-knocking. Soft roasty character, with notes of dark berries, mellow coffee and a subtle nuttiness. This beer was in the knockout stages of Beatnik 2018 - grab a slice while you can.

Can. Black with a cm of tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, nuts, some jam. Just medium bodied. Fairly sweet but enough bitterness at the end. Tastes as i smells with the jammy notes being a bit more prominent. Slightly empty-seeming after a while but really pretty tasty for 5%.

Can. Clear amber body with a big, creamy beige head. Mild aroma of dark malt with hint of coffee. Taste is dark malt, coffee and some milk chocolate in addition. Nice body and average aftertaste that ends with a taste of dry cocoa powder. Totally drinkable, but not very interesting.

Can. Pitch black, larger beige head, ok lasting. Mild roasty nose, dark chocolate and cocoa, vanilla and cream. Medium sweet, vanilla and quite creamy, chocolate. Medium light body. Gentle coffee roastiness in the aftertaste. Nice one, quite lactosey feel. A treat.

Can. Thanks Fil! Very dark brown body, off white head. Smooth chocolate and, strangely enough, alcohol, fighting in the aroma. Taste... remarkably light, before a lovely chocolate-praline-nutty note pops up for a while, and then dissolves into a sweetish void. Strange balance, but generally a fine beer.

On tap at Brewdog Brussels, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out bready malt, light cocoa and toasted nuts. Flavour is loaded with toasted pralines, toasted nuts and earthy notes. Lots of depth to this - it really exemplifies the praline character. Very good.

Vanilla porter by BrewDog, from a can bought at BrewDog Brussels, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Thick, papery-lacing, yellowish beige, mousy head on a blackish beer with still deep chestnut brown edges. Aroma of dry beef stock cubes, dry cocoa nibs and even ‘Nesquik’ chocolate powder, ground hazelnuts, old toast, fresh coffee beans somewhere and only subtle background vanilla. Restrainedly sweetish onset, quite outspoken ‘meaty’ umami, sourish undertone, medium fizz; slick nutty maltiness with a bitter-chocolatey edge as well as a vague blood-like metallic accent. Ground hazelnuts and old black coffee appear as well, the latter bringing roasted bitterness blending with a spicy hop touch. Sourish, bitter and umami flavours linger, while the vanilla remains understated – too much so for me, I don’t like it being this vague if it is promised to me, but then I guess the can wasn’t all that fresh anymore either… Fine porter, but I expected more from BrewDog.
