Praline Chocolate Porter. Dark forces are at work in this devilishly good Praline Porter. Chocolate and fruit come a-knocking. Soft roasty character, with notes of dark berries, mellow coffee and a subtle nuttiness. This beer was in the knockout stages of Beatnik 2018 - grab a slice while you can.

Draught, half pint. @Β«A GalicianaΒ», Compostela. 23/08/2019. Black colour with a medium tan head. Good retention. Aroma is black chocolate, intense roasty, nuts and soft vanilla. Taste is chocolate and soft licorice leading to an intense roasted finish. Ashes. Next one please!

Tap @ Brewdog Tallinn. Pours quite dark, black with some beige bubbles on the top. Dry roast nose, some ash and little bitterness with rough chocolate cocoa. Tastes ashy, some hazelnuts, sweet toffee, bitter chocolate. Creamy with that praline chocolate finish. Really praline for some reason, quite interesting they pulled this off with this relatively low abv porter. Not bad - but would not want to drink too much of this (and I have a good-sized glass now).

Bottle. Nose is oats, vanilla, coffee, caramel, hazelnut, hint of praline, milk chocolate; good. Taste is pronounced praline, caramel, marshmallow, sugar, cola, hint of cherry, vanilla, leading milk chocolate, nutty slightly earthy dry finish. Nose is good, but the beer is too sweet and with too much milk chocolate notes, which are not to my taste.

Keg at the Loaded Dog, Leicester. Dark brown and opaque with a wisp of uneven khaki head on top. Smells of liquorice, blackberry and liquorice. Tastes sweet - too much liquorice but not spoiled by it - with notes of molasses closer to the finish. Low to medium carbonation. I prefer to more balanced Jet Black Heart, but not by much. This is pretty good.
