Bottle at tasting. Aroma of caramelised malt, licorice, malt, raisin, subtle smoke and dates. Taste has subtle smoke, caramel, raisin, caramel, licorice, slight whisky booze and some oxidation unfortunately.

650ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, sulphureous head. Rich and intense, caramel malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge, a touch of liquorice and peat. Taste is slighty smoky, caramel malty, notes of caramel, hints of peat, burnt caramel, some liquorice, a dry woody touch; slightly prickling carbonation (less soft than expected).

Decent scotch ale. Aroma fits a traditional profile with dark malt, dark ripe fruit and a little peat. Flavor’s like nose, again traditionally on the sweet side. Body’s a bit chewy, excellent. Very good beer.
