This is what we got when we wanted to brew a dark beer that won’t be too bitter nor too sweet, not too dry and not too full, either. Roasty enough, with just the right amount of body, with plenty of flavours we love: coffee, chocolate, nuts, dried fruit. A rich mouthfeel of perfectly balanced bitterness against malty sweetness. Add the wonderfully creamy texture coming from the oat flakes and there’s a recipe for a seamlessly balanced dark beer.
The first batches of Oaty were saturated traditionally – with carbon dioxide – but to add some more silkiness to it, we have been gradually moving towards nitrogen. Currently, Oaty is saturated using nitrogen only, and we decided to post a short video showing how to properly pour this stout.
Do not pour it slowly, instead, do it vigorously, letting out a strong, steady stream, aiming at the bottom of the glass. By doing this, you will raise the gas contained in the drink, which in turn will create a wonderful, delicate foam.
It will add to the sense of creaminess and fullness.

On tap at Hopito, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of oats, dry cocoa, and toasted malt. Flavour is hearty, with lots of dry cocoa, hearty oats, and some earthy, toasted malt. Oaty, dry and well-made.

Roasted malt, sweet coffee, and kind of a hit of soya sauce aroma. Taste is well balanced between bitterness and sweetness, cocoa, and long lasting roasted malt finish.

Sort med lav, brun topp som blir liggende som et tynt slør.
Aroma; kaffe, malt, karamell, toffee.
Smak; kaffe, malt, karamell, toffee, plomme.

Can. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of roasted malt, with touches of yeast, caramel, and oats. Bitter, roasty onset, with sweet notes of lactose, caramel malt, and touches of yeast. Bitter, roasty and hoppy aftertaste with malty touches. A nice one.

Can. Pours a dark brown with thin beige top. Very roasty with chocolate and liquorice; quite spicy and inviting. Taste has chocolate, oats, liquorice, light smokiness, moderate sweetness. Slick body, low fine carbonation which isn't enough to draw out the spiciness around the palate. Might have had a poor batch as there is a great beer hiding in there somewhere.

150ml draught at BeerStreet, shared with Finn. Fawn-coloured head, almost black in the glass, scattered lacing. Brown malty aromas, nicely roasted, promising. Fine mixed taste of oatmeal and chocolate malts. Smoothly roasted malty tail. Medium bodied. Pretty nice. (Kraków, 14.10.2024)
