Brakspear Oxford Gold is a remarkably zesty brew, with fresh, citrussy aromas and a firm, fruity flavour. Pale ale malts provide the beer with its gold-gilt shimmer, spruced by a hatful of crystal malts to give body, texture and a delicate honey’d wrap.

Organic Target hops deliver a shamelessly fresh perfume, whilst late hopping with organic Goldings and fermentation by our Brakspear yeasts give Brakspear Oxford Gold a fabulous, fruity finish.

Small yellowish head over faintly veiled orange-copper, lazily carbonated beer. Toasted malts, very, very lightly liqueurish. Good hoppy bitterness, but ending harsher metallic. Some sweetness; bit herbal, citrus (also in the aftertaste). Medium bodied at best, feels better carbonated than it looks. Not bad, nothing special.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, drunk at home. Mid- to dark gold. Very little smell. Bittersweet taste replete with bitter earthy hop. Nicely carbonated. Average, or maybe just above average at a pinch.
