A beer conceived by Head Brewer Jeremy Moss, to celebrate the return of Brakspear brewing to Oxfordshire. This is a triple fermented, triple hopped strong beer, packaged in individually numbered bottles.
With its high alcohol content and bottle conditioning, this is a beer that will go on to develop further complexity as it matures in its bottle.

500ml bottle [bottle no. 2014597]. Clear dark red with small frothy collapsing off-wite head, leaving a thin layer. Sweet caramel malty aroma, toffee, a minimal touch of orange. Flat monotonous malty taste with an unpleasant bitter note like bitter almond or even chicory; dry finish with a touch of orange zest.

Bottle number A265810, best before 14th Jan 2009, drank late Nov 2008. Poured into a straight pint sleeve, no sediment left the bottle (that I noticed anyway). Deep amber, mahogany reddy brown, clear and clean looking, off-white head sat on top. The aroma was of hops, yeast and toffee/sweet molasses. The taste is a sweetish, rich malty flavour. Real fires without the smoke also comes to mind as you sip this very pleasant beer. Old leather armchairs, Gentlemens clubs and money, that is what this beer reminds me of. I can imagine warm lounges, smoking jackets and cigars when drinking this. A very good beer, the 7.2% is well hidden and balanced nicely. A beer for people who like the better things in life.

500 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours clear dark copper reddish brown with a rather small frothy and bubbly off-white head that leaves some lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is very sweet with ripe pears, caramel, glue, alcohol, plums, dark bread, golden syrup, honey, green apples, raisins and hints of grass and metal. Taste is sweet and slightly metallic with dark bread, pears, apples, raisins, plums, burnt caramel, wood, vanilla, toffee, grass and hints of orange peal. Mouthfeel is tiny watery, slightly round, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with dark bread, honey, pears, grass and orange peal. Not really my favorite style of beer but found it to be quite alright.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet - October 2011. Golden amber with a dense cream head; aroma of malt, slighly sour and earthy; smooth with a rich fruity maly flavour; the finish is warming with dry caramel and an earthy bitterness.

Bottle, small creamy head, quite clear deep red colour with rusty taints, spounge cake aroma with vanila, dark fruits, and some herbal and citrus hints, dominant malty flavours of jam and caramel balanced by a strong white fruit sourness and an empathic and quite strong bitterness, alcohol showing in the back adding a light coarse sensation but dissapearing as the beer warms up, aftertaste is fruity sour and extemely long. Nicely balanced and highly enjoyable.

Cask handpull at Westgate Spoons Canterbury. I do like braks yeast charactsr and i do like this beer in bottle. Decent fruity esb with some yeast character funny i prefered the greene king crafty hen whoops. 3.2/5
