Another viscous, motor oil-like black beer with some disparate bubbles on top. Treacle, liquorice, cocos, hint of mocha, chocolate, molasses. Alcohol overobvious, if balanced more or less by black chocolate, mocha. Faint metallic, coppery even. The oats make it creamy, despite all the alcoholthinning. Furious alcoholburn, fiery. Still full bodied. Impressive beer, no doubt, but more overwhelming than deep-complex. Txs to Stef!

Bottle I've been looking forward to for a while. Pours a very dark brown, almost no head. Aroma is quite vegetal from the chili, lots of cacao, dark malts, molasses, spice. Full body. Flavour is rich and warming, loads of cacao and chocolate, prune and fig, caramel, quite a bit of wood and bourbon, as well as a vegetal and warming chili note that increases in the finish. Good, but a bit vegetal and not as nice as some of the other barrel masters. Still excellent.

Bottle. A dark brown to black beer with a minimalistic beige head. The aroma has wood, booze, coffee and dark chocolate, with cocoa powder and hints of toffee. It's full-bodied, warming and sweet, yet dryish, with a very soft carbonation. Cocoa powder, dark chocolate, toffee, dark chocolate and some licorice and coffee in the flavor. Tannins, vanilla hints, prunes and some booze, with a lasting boozy, malty finish. A bit on the heavy side, but nice. 230408

aroma of glue wood booze dark toffeee alcohol roasted malts. quite intense aroma, alc. can be noticed, very much barrel in the aroma, must've been barrelled for a long time Flavor is wood, glue, faint chili burn that grows in the aftertaste, roasted malts, after a while the chilli really starts to bite. A decently tasting barrelled porter, quite heavy, you need to like wood to like this one. Chili works very well in the beer, chili has just the right strength, enough to bite, but not enough to overshadow all the other great flavors in this quite complex beer.

Bottle at home, 22nd December 22. Pours thick and black, aroma is liquorice, barrel and wood. Taste is quite intense, wet wood, liquorice and liquor, barrel, light chilli, just enough, never too sweet, very well executed.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, small, creamy, fading, tan head. Roasty and chocolately, dark malty and minimally spicy aroma, notes of couverture, dark chocolate, some cocoa, a touch of caramel, whiffs of chili. Taste is sweet-ish and roasty, chocolately, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, slightly spicy and minimally alcoholic, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, cocoa, dark cocoa, some caramel, some chili; accumulating heat from the chili in the finish, a minimally warming, alcoholic touch as well. Creamy, viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Rich, balanced, harmonious, homogeneous and focussed, not overspiced, all flavours feel like alcohol fostered, alcohol soaked, embedded, 14.0% abv seem to make sense here - easygoing sipper.
