Bottle as Marks & Spencer Southwold 2.7%. Citrus soap hop on the initial flavour. Good bitterness for a low abv beer. Yes ok. Fine inoffensive. Ok citrus fruit.

(Bottle) Clear dark copper / amber with short-lived slight off white head. Pleasant aroma of citrusy hops. Light body, rather fizzy. Taste is good, but a little thin. There is a pleasant caramel malt at the start and then a fruity tang comes in to be replaced with a decent amount of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Overall, for a lower alcohol beer this is excellent, however on the face of it it is a little thin.

500ml Bottle bought for me by my son-in-law (knowing I’d never buy such a beer): BBD 31 Mar 2014, poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged vase shaped pint glass on 19 Aug 2013. Just had a heavy Chinese take-away and need something light: this was in the beer cooler. Looks fine: a good solid copper/amber body with a thin white head, the beer appeared bright and clean. Pleasant biscuity malt aroma with a mild floral feel. The taste is also on the malt biscuit side of things and it is only mid-mouthful that the alcohol content lets the brew down and you realise how watery the actual beer is. It is fine for my needs at the moment: after that Chinky: however I’d be less impressed if I’d been served it in a pub or at a mates house. Scored objectively.

Bottle at home. Pours a good amber, head goes very fast. Nose has citrus and caramel and promises much. Fails to deliver on that promises though, as it is far too watery to hold your interest for a full bottle. Would rather have something twice as strong, twice as tasty, and take my time with it.

50cl bottle from Morrisons. A deep amber pour with a thick cream head; the aroma is sweet, floral and grainy - reminding me of a Baviarian kellerbier - but also has an earthy quality - I don’t know what a German farmyard smells like, but I guess this might be a good representation! In the mouth it’s malty and sweet and surprisingly full with some soft caramel in the background; there’s some quite spicy bitterness and a rather dry spritzy finish. This is surprisingly good for 2.7%ABV - I’d willingly follow it up with another.

Aroma: Slightly metallic, earthy, lemony aroma.
Appearance: Clear, deep amber body with a medium off-white head. Light carbonation. Decent lacing.
Taste: Not a huge amount of flavour going on here, but it’s pretty good for 2.7% ABV. Slightly floral with light caramel notes.
Palate: Thin body with a watery texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: For a light beer, it’s quite tasty. However, it’s very thin and watery. A bit dull.
