Bottle shared at CBJ - many thanks to Cloin. Pours oily black with a bubbly, tan head. Monstrously sweet but not quite OTT, some smooth maple, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, bourbon warmth, chocolate, a little toffee, dark fruits. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, sticky, a little ashy roast, gooey chocolate, slick maple, nips of earth and figs. Delicious.

Bottle thanks to Cloin. Near opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy but rich dark chocolate malts, a little milk chocolate, boozy chocolate liqueur. Modest maple sweetness on the back end before more boozy dark chocolate Malteasers on the close. Indulgent! And I like to be indulged.

2023 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a pitch black with brown highlights and a finger brown head that dissipates. Huge maple and bourbon aromas on the nose with oak, dark chocolate and vanilla. Coffee is fairly muted on the nose. Warming bourbon on the palate with endless maple syrup and vanilla on pancakes. Chocolate and coffee on the palate. Warming bourbon finish with lingering maple syrup. So good.

No CO² whatsoever; still, jet-black beer. Shoepolish, maple syrup, treacle, preserved dark fruit, preserved apples, molasses, crème Anglaise, wood. Whisky seems in retreat. Very sweet, syrupy. The maple is served with the pancakes and powder sugar included. Alcoholheat, vanilla, but again not really specific spirit. Chocolate, black raisins. Filthily voluptuous, uncarbonated, as eating and drinking at the same time, furious alcoholheat. Plus alcoolique, tu meures. An experience, in any case.
