Under the Southern Sky is a New England Style Double IPA of 8.1%, in which we only used New Zealand hops. For this beer we managed to get hold of a unique hop variety: Riwaka!

This (still) relatively unknown and hard to get variety has a character of passion fruit, citrus and grapefruit. We are happy to be able to work with this! The blend of Riwaka with Nelson Sauvin and Motueka makes this beer a real New Zealand special. In addition, we use Golden Promise malt and a good dose of oats, which contribute to the silky soft body.

Medium body, fruity, hoppy. Plenty bitter, grassy, some tropical fruit and grapefruit. On a neipa - west coast scale somewhere around Illinois. Very nice.

Appearance - 7 | Aroma - 7.5 | Flavor - 7.5 | Texture - 7 | Overall - 7.5

Very hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of green weedy hops, dank hops, citrus and some malt behind: Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Can at home, Nivala. Enjoyed straight from the can. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, hops and malts. Nice.

Full on NZ hops here. Aroma is grassy, topical fruit and pine. Some grape, juicy passion, pineapple, mango. Medium body. Flavour is malty, rich, more malt than outright sweetness. Dank and grassy, lots of pine. Rather bitter, at least the bitterness of an average west coast IPA - there's still oat smoothness here, but this is not a regular NEIPA. Some passion fruit and mango, orange and grapefruit. Nice, I enjoy the pine and grass from the riwaka and motueka, thankfully (for me) Nelson Sauvin seems more restrained. While not a NEIPA in the strictest sense a good IPA.
