Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear copper colour, creamy head. Caramelly, mildly leafy nose. Quite sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Caramel and earthy leaves on sugar. Mid bitter finish.

Bottiglia.

500ml bottle. Clear mahogany with small beige top. Aroma is somewhat metalic but with caramel and berries coming through. Taste of sweet brioche-bready malt, light roast, jam. A mid-bitter earthy finish with a hint of the metalic but not as bad as the aroma suggested. Nice smooth mouthfeel for the strength. A bit mixed.

Cask at Head of Steam, Birmingham. Clear red amber with a creamy off white top with great lacing. Malty caramel aroma, pleasant. Taste again malty with berry fruits, woody, long bitterness. Nice smoothness. Decent.

Ok trad ale. Little malty, little sweet, smooth. Nothing to fawn over, but decent enough.

Cask @ Duke of York, York. Clear dark red with a small white head. Aroma of red fruits and malts. Taste of caramel, red berries, chocolate, malts and toffee. Very chocolate-y in fact. Low bitterness. Low carbonation. Lovely.

Cask at Station Inn, Derby (not listed on RateBeer) – though I have drunk this beer (on an occasional basis) for over 40 years ! Pours a brownish red with minimal off-white head. Malts are the mainstay of the aroma, plus some hints of autumn fruits. In the mouth it is slightly sweet, Initially malts and dark fruits are the main flavours, but after a while some traditional hops show up. Sweetness returns in the finish. It’s OK – bit of a “time warp” beer though.
