Packed full of dark crystal malts this brew takes on a rich amber colour. A bouquet of caramel, amber malts and sweet berries give way to a palate of biscuit malts, woody & fruity hops that deliver a medium dry finish. This brew performs superbly cask conditioned as well as in bottle.

Malts: Ale Malt, Malted Wheat, Oats, Vienna Malt, Dark Crystal
Hops: First Gold, Savinjski Goldings, Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook

Γ…rhus2008. 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a lacing tan head. Aroma and initial flavour is mild spiced and of light fruity hops notes. Again a light house character with the sweet hops impression. Medium dry malt base before the finish which goes into a dry and bitter spiced hops finish.

Bottle, Oddbins, Liverpool. Pours orangey brown with a vanishing head. Aroma is grapefruit and hops. Soft mouthfeel. Flavour is piney and hoppy with some fruit present also. Very American in style, but that is no criticism. Nice lingering dry bitter finish. Don’t know why but I wasn’t expecting much from this, but it turned out to be a truly excellent brew.

Cask Conditioned. Almost clear copper red with a thin off-white head. Aroma is malty and a bit sour. Flavor is malty, fruity and sour as well. Suspecting this gone bad, must re-rate.

Bottle from Oddbins. An attractive copper/red colour with a decent off-white head and slight carbonation. Red fruit and caramel aroma with some citrus hops. Caramel was prominent in the flavour with a bitter, earthy finish. Good.
