Bottle from Waitrose. Appearance - dark honey colour. Decent head. Nose - burnt toffee, molasses. Burnt raisin too. Taste - prunes and more molasses. Palate - close to medium bodied with a decent finish. A tick thin as James points out. Overall - good enough.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear mahogany with a thin off-white head. Aromas of light toffee and nuts, something faintly metallic. Taste brings a bit of malt loaf. Thin finish, but better than expected.

Bottle. Copper-brown with next to no head. Not enthused about the clear glass bottle as despite being kept in a dark cellar it still had a mikd skunky aroma and taste. There is a good lightly sweetened maltiness to be found in here too and possibly a hint of chocolate.

On cask. Deep orange/amber body, off-white head. Aroma of grains, caramel and floral hops. Taste of grains, caramel, toast and some berries. OK beer.

Cask @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours dark brown, no head, no discernible aroma. Taste is watery boring brown bitter. A waste of time.

Mahogany brown and clear. Lots of dark malts. Moderate sweetness. Well balanced. Good but lacks a bit of oomph!
