Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Chestnut in colour with a loose cream head; sweet caramel aroma; sweet nutty malt taste; with some dry caramel and mollasses to finish. Not at all bad.

I do not normally drink beer before nine in the morning, but. Pint of this at Stanstead Airport with a Bacon Butty in the Wetherspoons before our flight woke me up nicely. Hand-pulled into a UK sleeve it has a pleasant looking mahogany body with a cream coloured topping. Malts all the way here, nutty notes along with semi-sweet molasses in both the nose and taste. Very similar to the bottle variety, but better in cask form.

Cask from Prince Albert, Ely. Light to mid-brown. Translucent. Mild smell of biscuit and some sort of nutmeggy spice. Lovely taste actually. Malty with a fruity bittersweet, and a slight sour cherry aftertaste. Worth a try at least.

Bottle from Meny (Amager), Copenhagen - Amber pour with white head. Sweet malty aroma and taste, with some caramel, treacle, nuts, some twiggy herbal hoppy notes, not bad. ---Sent via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Coppery colour with white head. Dried fruit aroma, caramel flavour with those dried fruits returning and a hint of spice. Bit thin, perhaps, but otherwise decent

Clear, light brown beer with a thick frothy head. Slightly sweet malt smell. Mostly malt in the flavour too, though there’s a slightly smoky toffee taste as well. Unspectacular but very drinkable. And not as lively on the tongue as it looks from the pour which is a bonus as well.

Bottle to lament (but respect) the fact that Scotland has voted no to independence. Pours clear copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, and hops, with touches of yeast. Bitter flavour of hops, with sweet notes of malt, caramel and fruit. Estery and bitter afteraste. Easily drinkable and not as bitter as a bitter Bitter. Okay but nothing extraordinary.
