Named after the lights of the aurora, regularly viewed in our northern skies.

Citrus flavours combine with hints of fresh bread: giving way to spice, citrus and apricot hoppiness. It has a delicious crisp hop character without being overly aggressive. Perfectly refreshing.

Hops: Perle, Hersbrucker, Saaz
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Malted Wheat

Lively golden beer with a thick bubbly head. Hoppy, citric scent. Very lemony flavour. It’s quite tart initially but even with the hops kicking in it does mellow out a bit and the aftertaste actually ends up being quite sweet. Slightly chilled this’d be spot-on to sit in the garden with.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of apricot and hay. Flavour of cereal, grass and lemon - it tastes similar to a Lager. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. A straightforward, if slightly harsh, Golden Ale.

0,5L bottle. Pours clear golden with whiteish head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet, fresh fruits and malt. Taste is sweet, fruits, hay, malt and some bitterness. Finish is mild fruity and dry bitter. Overall: decent enough for a low alcohol brew, not too watery.

Bottle at home. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is doughy, grainy, weak citrus and hay. The taste is bitter, toasty, doughy, dull sweetness, grass, citrus peel and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Straight-forward golden ale. Drinkable enough, but far from exciting.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldenes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch fruchtig malzig, leicht hefig, hopfig. Geschmack hopfig malzig, fruchtig, leicht hefig.

Cask at the Stromness Hotel. Pours hazy pale gold, thick foamy head. Light lemon and malt aromas. Taste is more of the same. Not exciting, but not bad.

Pale straw, the aroma is mostly pale malt and just a little bit of earthy-mossy hop and mushroomy yeast. Light bitterness, lots of yeasty character, mushrooms and stronger overaged brie stuff, and the hops are a shadow. Not to mention a brutal, skullsplitting whack of diacetyl. Honestly, the beer is not as described ("citrusy" and all that) and tastes old. The problem with that is that it has a BBD of Nov/14, this is Aug/13 and I bought it at the brewery. That says it all for me - it’s just not a good beer and clearly the brewery doesn’t care about it.

Cask at the Grill. It pours clear golden yellow with a medium white head. The nose is doughy, straw, sweet orange, sherbet and muffin. The taste is crisp, floral, light dough, orange, tangerine, lemon, sherbet and straw with a dry, citric finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A clean, easy-going golden. Decent.
