The "i" might be in lower case, but beware - this is a capital beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours drizzled over a scoop of velvety ice cream. iStout Affogato is balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold, hoppy freshness, remixed by the addition of lactose, coffee, and vanilla in the brew.

440ml can as part of a delivery from New Zealand Beer Collective and drunk at home. Blacker than black and viscous with a small ring of khaki head. Massive aroma of vanilla-laden caramel, espresso beans and maybe a tiny bit of liquorice. Taste is so, so sweet, like cold oversugared coffee (but still somehow really amazing) and some light toasty bitterness in the finish. Full, full body with light carbonation. Works incredibly well.

14.9 oz. can, pours jet black with a tiny beige head. Aroma is full of medium roasted coffee upfront, followed by plenty of lactose, and a tiny hint of vanilla. Flavour is very rich and sticky, with lots of coffee and lactose sweetness upfront. Sticky, oily, rich, and yet balanced well. Very nice.

11th November 2022 Can. This brew is effectively opaque and dark brown black with a small but tidy tan head. Smooth palate, slightly soft, decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, good serving of dark chocolate Malteasers. Mild dark malt cream. Touch of tangy and earthy dark chocolate underneath, very mellow coffee. Light finish. Easy drinking and pleasant, just lacks another element of something or other to make it really rock.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick four to five centimetre tall deep tan and even light brown coloured head that stays afloat for while, but fades after a few seconds and still looks nice. Aroma of deep roasted malts, tons of vanilla and especially caramelised sugars and a lot of a molasses and more rich syrupy notes along with a slight dose of bittered chocolate or coffee at the end of the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong and rich malts dominate up front with a lot of roast and pungency and a bitterness that seems much more from chocolate notes than any coffee here, but the sweetness dominates at the end with molasses, caramel, toffee and some honey here too. Aftertaste shows a light kick of oatmeal and some grainy rustic flavours, but the roasted malt and deep sugars persist here and with a nice layer of cream and vanilla, the end is much more soft and polished than a typical beer of this calibre, along with the pungent sweetness, this makes this much easier drinking than I expected and nice for the style. Overall, a nice and flavourful, fairly easy-drinking stout that is creamy, rich and super flavorful while being sweet and slightly bitter too, hitting almost all the categories here! I sampled this 50cL can, purchased from BeerTopia in Omaha, Nebraska on 13-February-2019 for US$5,99 and sampled a bit more than 3 years later at my house here in Washington on 28-June-2022, a few minutes before leaving this country for the first time in more than 2 years to the ho-hum country of Canada and the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia with my wife and three kids.
