Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#45. GOREY. Second of three last beers on Jersey enjoyed sat by the sea as the sun goes down. Golden with a haziness. Light citrus, stone fruit and pine is evident here, and hard to notice it's gluten free. This is quite a strong session IPA, but nevertheless it's easy enough and a likeable brew.

[44cl can from Ruby Wines, Englefield Green.] A hazy amber pour with a tight creamy white head; citrusy aroma with an odd vegetal note; sweet orangey citrusy body overlaid with a woody bitterness; and some tart citrus to finish, like underripe grapefruit. There’s also some stone fruit in there somewhere. Strange.

Draught keg at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Light gold and hazy with a film of slightly off-white head and considerable lacing. Sticky lemon drops, white grape, some vanilla and oatmeal in the aroma. Balanced taste: its mostly sweet and very juicy but there's a heavy malt backbone reminiscent of the best US brews. Amicable bitterness to the finish with more sweet lemon in the aftertaste. Medium body with carbonation slightly on the heavy side. Heavenly stuff here.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Siren online. Pours lightly hazed orange-gold with a foamy, white head. Lightly sweet with some pithy lemon and grapefruit, a little dusty hay, light chalky raw hop notes, dry pale malts. Light bodied with average carbonation. Chalky finish, light minerality, more rindy citrus bitterness. Not bad.

440ml can from Gavel, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light citrus fruits. The flavour is over moderate bitter, light sweet, with a fresh, crisp, juicy citrus, light pepper spice, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
