Russian Imperial Stouts named because of their popularity in the Russian Courts during the reign of Catherine the Great. Our version is a big chewy number, with a gentle fruity nose, matched on the tongue with a relaxed roastiness and a long fruity finish.

Can: More deep brown than black coloured, stable brownish head, moderate sourish-bitter and ashy aroma of dried fruits and roasted malt; moderate to solid bitter flavour, light acidity, medium to full bodied, pretty smooth; lingering dry bitter-toasty and sourish finish. Good...

440ml can. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty dark malty, chocolately aroma, notes of dark chocolate. Taste is slightly bitter, roasty dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, a sweet-ish touch of caramel, minimally metallic overtones, minimally alcoholic finish. Quite monotonous for an Impy Stout.

Bottle shared by Beersiveknown @ tasting at his place. Huge thanks Steve! Brown color, small beige to light brown colored head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, a weird sort of sweetness and clearly a bit old and oxidised. Taste malts, oxidised, ome dark malts and nicely bitter. Past its prime unfortunately.
