A rich salted chocolate double porter. Brewed with loads of dark and crystal malts to produce a robust, nutty, chocolate malt backbone. Flavoured with salt and chocolate to give this beer an extra kick, brewed with lactose for a smooth mouth feel.

Draft at The Rook, Brighton. Poured almost black in colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is big burnt treacle, toffee caramel. The flavour is over moderate sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, dry, earthy, caramel, warm, boozy, liquorice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with flat carbonation.

440ml can. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, mild roast malt. Taste is sweet, chocolate, caramel, a touch of salt, mild roast, vanilla-like lactose, light bitterness. Medium-full bodied, smooth, creamy. Pretty well balanced for an adjunct porter.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Pours pitch black, brown ring of bubbles circling the glass. Aroma of chocolate, salt. Thick and silky mouthfeel with chocolate providing much of it's overall profile, but unfortunately just too much salt dominating things. Shame.

On tap at The Dead Crafty Beer Company, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out lots of lactose, cocoa and a touch of salt. Flavour is extremely rich, with lactose, cocoa, and a hint of salt. Not much roast or structure - led by the adjuncts. Meh.

Black beer, thick tan head. Smells of chocolate and salted caramel. Flavour has salted caramel too, rich milk chocolate, sweet and toasty malt, a little vanilla. Rich, smooth, delicious with a nice malty, warming finish.
