2021 version bought from? Aroma is rich- dark fruits.... fig rolls. Wood. Booze. Opaque dark amber. Thick silky foamy beige head. Ohh. We then move onto the flavour which offers more than the already hopeful aroma implies. Warming caramelised but sweet dark fruit. [Is it dark or is that my soul?] The sweetness helps to initially camouflage the boozey rasp. Burnt caramel finish. Medium bodied. Cily but also ferls light due to sticky residue. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long elegantly astringent finish. Yeah. A sexy King Arthur with an enveloping warm embrace.

Bottled 330ml (DBH)
Dark brown colour, small beige head. Toffee, some malts and alcohol in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. A bit too much carbonation for barley wine. Sweet honeyish and toffeish flavour. Maltyness, light earthy hops and then alcoholic kick. A bit restless but nicely old schoolish Barley Wine.

Keg at BD Shoreditch, thanks to the barman for a gratis half pint - all I needed before a big tasting, 31/08/22. Murky mahogany brown with a moderately appointed beige head. Nose is sticky fruits, toffee, light booze, dates, brown sugar melt, prunes. Taste comprises sweet malts, fruit cake mix, raisins, sultanas, booze, molasses, toffee melt. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, semi drying close with a warming kiss of alcohol. Decent barley wine if a little overly sweet and chewy at times.

On tap at Brewdog Outpost - Tower Hill, pours a hazy deep dark rusted amber with a small white head. Aroma is rich, with lots of caramel, toffee, brown sugars, and resinous hops. Flavour is rich, with lots of caramel malt, toffee, and resinous hops. Big n bold but balanced; not too sweet. Rich and complex.
