Sweet? Bitter? Moreish. Butterscotch sweetness is balanced by hop bitterness in this moreish smooth dark ale.

Bottle from Real Ale Store. Almost black colour. Thin tan head. Aroma is butterscotch sweet but it’s subtle. Also roasted malt. Nice one.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the Chesterfield Ale House on 20th Nov 2014. Very dark brown body, beige topping. Fairly sweet nose and taste, I got vanilla in my mind and couldn’t shift it throughout the half-pint. Tried to find butterscotch, but that bloody vanilla thought kept getting in the way. I liked it though. Malty molasses push down the hop bitterness until the late finish.

Cask (Nottingham Beer Festival 2014) - Dark brown, almost black in colour. Roasted malt and treacle in the aroma. Sticky toffee pudding, liquorice and dates feature in the taste. An interesting beer.
