A deceptive golden stout devised with our friends at the inspirational Thornbridge Brewery. You'll pick up plenty of unexpected depth here, with rich chocolate and coffee notes intertwining with sweet liquorice, biscuity malts and creamy lactose.

Can at home from Dad, 29th September 2025. Dropped the can off the top of the beer fridge, so had to drink this one quick - on way to Amsterdam. It’s alright for the style, but not my choice

Can from lowcostbeer, unknown BBE. Pours a light cloudy dark gold with small white head. Aroma of coffee, toasted malt, hint of lactose, some herbal hops. Taste of sweet toasted malts, coffee, tangy orange pith, lactose, hint of chocolate. Medium bodied, chewy, subtle carbonation. Something a bit different, I like it but don't love it.

3/VII/22 - 44cl can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ Abeels’ place, BB: 27/I/22, canned: 27/IV/21 11:44, G1961 (2022-852)
Clear orange beer, quite a lot of protein flakes floating around under a big solid off-white head, stable, a bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of coffee, cocoa notes, some chocolate, bit of a sweet impression, but overall just very very malty, grains. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: coffee, soft roast, a bit sourish, cocoa powder, caramel and some vanilla even. Aftertaste: sweet touch, coffee, a bit sugary, caramel notes, some more chocolate, slightly acidic in the finish. Not bad, but not really my thing either.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Cambridge Wines. Pours clear honey-gold with a tight, creamy white topping. Moderately sweet, some simple pale bread, suggestions of coffee, lightly toasted sugar, caramel. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly gooey, more subtle coffee, pale bread, some slight ripe citrus. Simple but drinkable enough.

Can at Suagu, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy golden colour with an everlasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, creamy, wheaty. The flavour is moderate to light sweet and bitter, with a smooth, rich, light grainy, creamy, light floral, herbal, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Panda at home, thanks to Fergus, 31/07/21. Almost clear golden amber with a modest white cap. Nose is coffee grinds, brown sugar dusting, white chocolate, ashen tones, light charr. Taste comprises coffee cake, toasted malts, grains, light roast, white peppery spice, herb, biscuit crumbs, Milky Bar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not bad for a white stout.
