The original Banks's brew. This is the beer that made Banks's famous and is still the world's best selling mild - it's beautifully balanced, smooth and very moreish.
A light chestnut coloured beer, exhibiting a glorious balance. Malty with a perceptible burnt note, it's full bodied with a hint of bitterness counterbalancing the rich, biscuity flavour from the best barley.
The perfect accompaniment to a spicy Indian dish or strong flavoured meats and game.

Can, 500ml. Pours dark amber with a coat of light beige head. Aroma of caramel, pears and flowers. Thinnish mouthfeel but not that watery considering the 3.5%. Taste is moderately sweet with singed caramel and biscuits, some pears and clear but modest bitterness at the finish. Not bad at all for a pasteurised can.

Can. An amber beer wtih a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, leading to a dry and bitter finish. Not a mild in my book.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber colour, off-white head. Aroma is light caramel malts. Flavour is some caramel malts and hint of fruits. Watery. Mediocre.

Cask handpull at The Pheasant Ashford. Its crazy that I have not rated this. Deep reddish amber clear with thick cream head from the sparkler. Some sulphur and soft malts on the aroma. Some hard toffee in the mouth. Soft on the swallow with a bit more toffee an yeast on the very lasting finish. It hangs around in your mouth longer than you would expect. But its a light mild not a bitter

500ml can. Pours a really dark amber with a small head. Aroma is weak, some watery raisin and some roasted malt. Not much to taste, some roasted malt to finish.

Cask at the Bridge, Kingswinford. Pours dark amber with a small head. Aroma is some dried fruits and biscuity malt. Some bread to start and a bready, malt finish. As a point, this should be for any beer listed as Banksโs Mild, as they are the same beer.

Can 50 cl. Pours a clear dark amber with a dense off-white head leaving laces. Lightly nutty nose. Light body, low in carbonation, nuts and roasted malt with a metallic edge. Very subdued bitterness. Not much of a Mild. 210110

Can 500ml.Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, old bread, caramel, light hoppy, light yeasty, UK yeast and vomit notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100123]

Can. Copper colour with a thick cream head; very lively to pour, semmed as though there was a widget in the can, but there wasnโt. Sweet malty aroma with a touch of biscuit; fruity but not too sweet in the mouth; and a malty dry finish with a metaillic edge. Not bad!

Handpump Worcester City FC every season since 1988. Like the Banks bitter, this is another regular that Iโve had that not got around to rating. Amber coloured, easy drinking beer bit nutty and malty and creamy tasting. Another beer that is worshipped around the Worcester and above into itโs heartland its hard to dislike what is almost always a consistenly average, perfectly acceptable, decent enough beer, if there is one thing that I can say about Banks that is very positive I can barely recall having to take a pint back.
