Inspired by the famous Lakeland fell-walker Alfred Wainwright, our master brewers go the extra mile too. They search near and far for quality English malt and hops and tirelessly craft unique combinations worthy of the Wainwright name, like this delightfully refreshing Golden Beer. Lightly hopped with subtle sweetness, a delicate citrus aroma and a gloriously golden colour. Enjoy.

Cask at Hogarth’s, Stafford (not listed in RateBeer – it doesn’t deserve to be !). Wasn’t expecting to get a tick whilst slumming it here ! Drunk it many times before of course, but never rated it. Anyway, pours a bright golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Just some vague fruitiness in the aroma. In the mouth it has a watery texture with sweet malty flavour. Later on there is a little bitterness and some lemongradss. Finish is sweet. It’s a semi-macro that’s as bland as hell, but otherwise not a bad beer.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours clear golden with a thinnish creamy white head. Aromas of light citrus, honey and floral. Taste is very biscuity with more subtle tones of lemon, honey and floral. Also a tiny herbal note. Low bitterness. Sweetish finish. Thinnish body and fairly smooth mouthfeel. Ok everyday session beer.

Bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is juicy malts, earthy, grassy hops. Taste is the same. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Not too shabby.

Bottle from Lidl. Quite an easy ale one might appreciate on hot summer days. Bit of yeasty on a nose. Bottom medium bitterness. Bit yeasty, some hops, barnyard. Good.

Thin white head left a spotty cover on pale golden body. Fruity aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a sharp clean back. Delicate floral tastes with stone fruit & bitter finish. Decent quaffer.
