Inspired by the famous Lakeland fell-walker Alfred Wainwright, our master brewers go the extra mile too. They search near and far for quality English malt and hops and tirelessly craft unique combinations worthy of the Wainwright name, like this delightfully refreshing Golden Beer. Lightly hopped with subtle sweetness, a delicate citrus aroma and a gloriously golden colour. Enjoy.

Cask at The Wainwright Pub. Pours a clear light gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has lots of straw and hay with a hint sweet grains underlying. Flavor combines crisp straw and hay with touches of sweetness and grass backing.

Bottle from Asda. Golden in colour, with a small, white, head. Some sharp citrus notes, a hint of sulphur, crisp malts and a lingering, bitter finish. Ok.

Cask at the Calthorpe Arms, London on 12th April 2019. Golden amber with virtually no foam to speak of. Light caramel malt aroma. Malty in-mouth with soft fruits, these two foci combining into a medium sweet blended finish. Smooth mouthfeel and a moderate body.

Bottle at home watching the Singapore Grand Prix. Well chilled and a classic example of a English golden ale. Very thirst quenching, quite abrasive and very drinkable.

Can from Vrutak. Hazy golden, huge, lasting, very thick and almost creamy white head. The perfumey aroma mixes citric hops and pear esters, gets a bit dull later on, stale, with maybe some clean maltiness breaking through. Taste... somewhat dull, flat, citric/herbal hop, full for the ABV though, ends a bit dull, vaguely dry. Trace herbal touches in the aftertaste, hinting at a bitterness that simply isn't there... well... it is, but in the 10 IBU area or something. Better than I expected all in all. Not great, but a good cheap ale.
