We're back on the cocktail-inspired train and the first of the year is based on an elegant classic, the Kir Royale.
Stupendous amounts of locally sourced blackcurrants substitute the creme de cassis and the addition of (not so local) white grape lends a champagne like sweetness.
Beautifully tart and typically full bodied Modern Sour Beer.

Deadication brew to the former Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov - he of the 'cocktail' fame born on this day. This brew is a cocktail of sorts, its strength isn't so much a problem, it's well hidden by the blackcurrant, but this itself is on the rich side of sourness, and a little too much so for my liking.

Sampled from tap, listed as 8 % abv. Pours a slushi dark purple red. Large pink head. Very stable. Scent is black urgent candy, harsh earthyness underneath. Taste is mildly tart, very earthy, super loud fruityness. Medium sweetness. Slushi mouth feel.
