Bottle. High Peak Wine and Beer Castleton. Label states 7.1%. Fairly slick pour sits black in the glass. Slim messy lasting beige head. Nose has liquorice and dried vine fruit. Some earthy coffee grinds. Bitter cooking chocolate. Some leathery notes. Taste is pretty sweet first off with a hefty earthy tobacco leaf like bitterness. Very slick and full bodied. Feels above the 7.1%. Rich vinous chocolate bitterness to finish.

Bottle from Northern Beer Temple, Wigan. Black with an off-white head. Somewhat sweet stout, good character, plenty of body with its strength, and mildly sticky in texture for it.

Sample courtesy of mR_fr0g, cheers Fergus! Black colour, thin tan foam rim and aroma of malt, roasty, chocolate & coffee, molasses, dark fruit hints. Taste is sweetish, roast malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, with nutty bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.
