This is 16 Stout!
Celebrating that Dugges in the year 2020 turned 15 years old we brewed three very special beers. One of them was 15 stout! An imperial stout with 15 different species. We put vanilla, cinnamon, cacao, tonka beans, licorice, salt, ginger, cardamon, muscovado sugar, coconut, coffee, poppy seeds, nutmeg, clove and star anis in there. For 16 stout, we put 15 stout in bourbon barrels transforming it into a bourbon barrel aged imperial.

An Englishman Walks Into a Bar
In 2002 Mikael Dugge Engström, the founder, CEO and Brew Master of Dugges Bryggeri had a meeting with an Englishman. What was said at the meeting has long since been forgotten. What was said at the following pub visit is why Mikael in 2004 started Dugges and why we are here today, 16 years later. This beer is our 16th birthday beer. We knew we wanted to do a 16th birthday beer so last year we took our 15 stout and filled some bourbon barrels and what did we get? A huge 18% bourbon barrel aged imperial birthday stout. Sweet Sixteen!

Bottled (from Systembolaget Rådhusesplanaden Umeå). Black colour, not much head. Aroma is coconut, chocolate, tonka beans, some spices, chocolate and mild alcohol too. Flavour is tonka, alcohol, coconut, some chocolate, syrup to it. A bit on the boozy side as for the flavour.

Bottle shared by Erik, Belgicali tasting. Black with small head. Quite boozy aroma with loads of raw liquor, liquorice, dark choclate. Taste is not as boozy but has quite some heat. Cinnamon all over with some chocolate and liquorice. Think cinnamon manages to hide the booze. Okay.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 2023 Aroma has cinnamon and strong chocolate tones. Feels a bit musty. Flavour has sharp alcohol, some cinnamon, chocolate and. Some Amaretto and liquor in the finish with nuts. Rather boozy, but what can you expect with this ABV?
