Franz Pfeffer was a companion of the robber Heigl, the Robin Hood of the Bavarian. Due to a foot injury he sustained while wearing the Schölla (ankle bracelet with iron ball) during one of his arrests, he was called Grump (cripple). He lived in a Stanzn (hut) at the foot of the Kaitersberg and was demonstrably a direct ancestor of the brewery founder Wolfgang Pfeffer. For the 125th anniversary of the brewery, we dedicated a beer to him.

(swing top bottle) Slightly hazy, dark ruby colour with a loose medium-sized and tanned foamy head. Rich dark malty aroma with toasted, leathery and nutty notes, dried fruits and a delicately vinous, almost Sherry-like touch. Sweet and delicately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Dark malty taste with nutty notes, dried fruits and traces of chocolate; lasting, sweet and slightly bitter dark malty finish with a slightly vinous fruity edge and notes of nuts and chocolate in the aftertaste. Definitely not your average Dunkel. 05.V.14
