On tap at Wiedenbräu. Hazy amber colour with a nice white head. Taste is malty and hoppy. Aroma is well balanced between malts and hops with a hoppy-bitter finish. Just think about an easy drinking Maerzen in a fresh, balanced way.

bottle, purchased at the brewery. Hazy golden, mid-sized white head. Lovely malty nose. Full-bodied, superb malt flavours witrh nice aromatic hops, almost like in a good Bohemian Pilsener. Good stuff.

Tap at the brewpub. Aroma is mostly hoppy, noble hops. Clear golden colour, stable white head. Taste is balanced most of the way. Got both hops and malt flavours, but invokes kind of basement aromas in me. In the finish it leans more to the bitter hoppy side, which lends to the dirnkability. Moderate carbonation. Again an average good beer, only lacks a bit more soul.

In Österreich wird unter dem Titel Märzen ein klassisches, helles Lagerbier verkauft, das manchmal etwas voller schmeckt wie manch tschechisches Zwölfgrädiges. Dieses ist aber ein Märzen nach altem Schlag: Dunkel bis bernseinfarben und schön malzig. Nicht nur eine Freude für die Wespen, die mir beim Biertrinken Gesellschaft geleistet haben.

RBESG ’12, Vienna. On tap at the brewpub. Clear light amber colour, white head. Aroma of light veggies, caramel, light fruity. Flavour is again light veggies, light toasted malts, nuts, light toasted bitter finish. Light-bodied. OK.
